Transferring a Workspace on a Trial or Paid Subscription

You can transfer ownership of a workspace to another DashboardFox account — useful when handing a project to a colleague, a client, or another account of your own. This article covers workspaces on a trial or a paid subscription. Transfers are managed from the Customer Management Portal at my.dashboardfox.app (or my-eu.dashboardfox.app if your workspace is on the EU region).


What Moves and What Stays

  • The workspace transfers as a unit — its infrastructure, configuration, and custom domains move to the new owner.

  • Your billing does not transfer. Your billing profile, saved payment methods, and invoice history stay on your account. Paid add-ons on the workspace are deactivated as part of the transfer.

The new owner sets up their own billing after they accept — they never gain access to your payment methods or billing history.


What Happens to Your Subscription

When the recipient accepts the transfer:

  • Your subscription for that workspace is cancelled immediately. You are no longer billed for it.

  • Any unused value from your current billing term is credited to your billing account as account credit you can apply to future subscriptions. This credit is non-refundable. The exact amount depends on your plan and where you are in the billing cycle, and in some cases there may be no remaining value to credit. You'll see an estimate before you confirm the transfer.

  • Your billing profile, payment methods, and past invoices remain on your account unchanged.

If your workspace is on a trial (no paid subscription yet), there's nothing to cancel and no credit — the workspace simply moves to the new owner.


What the New Owner Receives

  • The workspace and everything attached to it, except your billing (above).

  • A 7-day transfer trial. The new owner needs to set up their own billing within 7 days to keep the workspace active. This gives them time to add a payment method and choose a plan without an interruption at the moment of transfer.


Starting a Transfer

  1. Sign in at my.dashboardfox.app (or my-eu.dashboardfox.app for the EU region) and open the workspace you want to transfer.

  2. Open the workspace settings and choose Transfer Workspace.

  3. Enter the email address of the person who will receive it. They must already have a DashboardFox account.

  4. Review the summary — including any subscription credit estimate — and confirm. An invitation is sent to the recipient.


Accepting a Transfer

The recipient receives an email with an acceptance link:

  1. They click the link and log in (or create an account first).

  2. They review what they're receiving, including the 7-day window to set up billing.

  3. They accept, and ownership moves to their account immediately.


Cancelling a Pending Transfer

A transfer must be accepted within 48 hours. Until it's accepted, either party can cancel it from the workspace's transfer screen — the invitation link stops working and ownership stays put. Your subscription is not cancelled until the recipient actually accepts, so a pending or cancelled transfer never affects your current billing.

Transfers are permanent once accepted. Make sure you're sending the workspace to the right person before confirming.


Before You Transfer

A few requirements to know about:

  • The recipient must already have a DashboardFox account. Ask them to sign up first if they don't.

  • You can't transfer to the same agency. To move a workspace within your own agency, use workspace member management instead.

  • The workspace must be in good standing. A workspace that's past due, suspended, or pending deletion can't be transferred until that's resolved.

  • Wait for any in-progress deployment to finish before starting a transfer.

  • Transfers stay within your region. A workspace on the US region (my.dashboardfox.app) transfers to an account on that region; an EU workspace (my-eu.dashboardfox.app) transfers within the EU region.
